Ten minutes from Gordon Station
a different world from the Pacific Highway.
A small Reggio-inspired kindergarten on a quiet residential street in St Ives Chase, an easy bookend to a Gordon commute. Forty children, ages 2.5 to 6, in a generous outdoor yard shaded by mature gum trees. Open 7am to 6pm. Child Care Subsidy approved.
A train, a coffee, then a quiet bookend at both ends.
St Ives Chase Kindergarten is about ten minutes by car from Gordon Station, or one stop on the 195 bus that runs the same route. Many of our families catch the 7.30 train into the city or to North Sydney, and the day starts and ends here.
Gordon's Edwardian station and the streets around Eryldene have their own charm, but the Pacific Highway can be loud. Our yard is a long way from that. Mature gum trees, a worm farm, a vegetable garden. The shift between the two is the appeal for a lot of our Gordon families.
If you live near Ravenswood School for Girls, Gordon East Public School, or up around the Pacific Highway end of Highfield Road, the drive in to us is straightforward. Our 7am to 6pm hours give you the buffer at both ends of a long city day.
A familiar route between station and centre.
Gordon sits on the T1 North Shore line, about ten minutes from us by car or one stop south on the 195 bus. The drive in passes the heritage streets near Eryldene Cottage, crosses Mona Vale Road, and arrives at the quiet residential streets of St Ives Chase. For many families, that ten-minute shift is the appeal: a city commute that ends with a child at play under mature gum trees, not on a busy main-road frontage.
Most of our Gordon families live in the streets between Gordon Station and Killeaton Street, or up around the Pacific Highway end of Highfield Road. Some catch the 7.30 train into the CBD or North Sydney, dropping in to us on the way; others work locally and keep the morning calm. We see children whose older siblings now attend Gordon East Public School, Gordon West Public, or Ravenswood School for Girls, and we work closely with each family on the transition when the time comes.
Gordon has its own good options for early childhood, and we're not the closest centre to most of these families. What brings them across is the size of the yard, the way the team stays year on year, and the fact that the day genuinely happens outside as much as in.
A kindergarten that ages with your family.
A small, family-sized centre
Forty children, two classrooms. Compare that to the larger chains in the area at 80 to 120 children. The smaller scale changes the whole feel.
Educators who stay
Tina has led the centre for years. Many educators have been here long enough that families with two or three children see the same faces from one child to the next.
A real outdoor classroom
Not a rooftop deck. A proper yard with gum trees, lawn, a sandpit, a worm farm, a vegetable garden the children look after.
What our families say.
Eight years ago, we sent our daughter here and she had a safe, joyful experience. Even though many new centres with seemingly better facilities have opened nearby since then, we still chose to send our second child here. Director Tina is highly responsible, always responsive to parents' needs.
I have had experiences with 5 nurseries and pre-schools in three different countries over the past 5 years and St Ives Chase Kindergarten has been the best. The team brings such warmth, calm and enthusiasm to all of their activities.
I cannot express enough how much I cherish St Ives Chase Kindergarten. The team is truly exceptional, going above and beyond to care for our children. Tina, with her kindness and nurturing spirit, runs the school seamlessly, making me feel completely confident that my son is not just looked after.
