From Pymble to St Ives

Forty children, one familiar place.

Most of the larger childcare centres in the Pymble corridor run between 80 and 120 children across two storeys. We are forty, on one level, on a quiet residential street in a property that has been a kindergarten since 1991, with the same mature gum trees still in the yard. For some Pymble families that contrast is the whole reason they enrol with us.

What you trade in scale, you get back in continuity. Tina has led the centre for years. Educators stay long enough that some families have moved a second and third child through the same room with the same lead educator.

If your child will go on to Pymble Ladies' College, Pymble Public School (with its established sustainability and vegetable garden program), or Sydney Grammar St Ives Preparatory, the project work and fine motor habits our educators document daily are exactly the dispositions those schools build on.

About Pymble, and our families who live there

Often closer than the next suburb over.

The boundary between Pymble and St Ives is closer than most maps suggest. Many families on the leafy streets east of Pacific Highway, around Pymble Avenue, Bicentennial Park, or down toward Sheldon Forest, are five to seven minutes from our gate. For these families the choice of preschool is rarely about distance, it's about the feel of the place once they arrive.

We see children whose older siblings attend Pymble Public School, families with girls heading on to Pymble Ladies' College, and Pymble parents who chose St Ives Chase for the same reasons they chose Pymble itself: the trees, the calm, the room to breathe. Quite a few of our long-standing families came to us as Pymble locals and have stayed through a second or third child.

Pymble has plenty of preschool options, and we don't pretend to be the only good one. What we try to be is the small, familiar one. Two classrooms, forty children, the same director since 2017 and the same long-tenured educators alongside her. Pymble parents who tour with us often say the day feels less institutional and more like an extension of how the children play at home.

Why Pymble families choose us

A different shape of kindergarten.

Forty children, not a hundred and twenty

Two classrooms, Koalas and Joeys. Every educator knows every child. Settling in happens quickly because the cohort is small.

Reggio-inspired, anchored in real training

Tina trained at the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre in Reggio Emilia, Italy, in 2025. The approach treats children as researchers of their own world.

A real outdoor yard, not a deck

Mature gum trees, a sandpit, a worm farm, a vegetable garden. Most days the children are outside more than they are in.

What families say

What our families say.

We absolutely love the warm staff, community vibe and huge space here, couldn't recommend it enough. The app posts show how much fun they're having whilst learning so much through all the well-structured, play-based activities. Our little girl is off to St Ives North Public School next year.

Since our family recently moved to Australia, we had many worries about sending our kids to kindergarten, both language-wise and culturally. Both of our children have happily adapted and are truly enjoying their time here. Because it's not a large centre, each child receives more personal attention.

The team at Chase provide an ideal structure and rhythm for the kids, that we feel sets them up well for primary school. The events they hold for kids and parents and the regular communications mean you are not just joining a kindergarten, you are joining a community.
